Data Analyst

Pacific Guardian Life is seeking a highly qualified and results driven individual to fill a Data Analyst position in our Honolulu office.

The Data Analyst will be responsible for analyzing, developing, testing, and supporting data/reports required by PGL’s users. Ultimately, the Data Analyst will collaborate with the business on technology and business process efforts that include developing data or reporting solutions per business requirements. 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s degree in management information systems, computer science from an accredited college or university.
  • At least three (3) years in an IT role and at least one (1) year of recent work experience as a Data Analyst or Report Developer.
  • Insurance or financial experience desired.
  • Experience working with relational databases (Microsoft SQL Server), query authoring (T-SQL) and stored procedures, as well as working familiarity with a variety of databases.
  • Experience performing root cause analysis on internal and external data and processes to answer specific business questions and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Strong analytic skills related to working with structured and unstructured datasets.
  • Ability to translate business needs into the data requirements, business rules and logic to be applied to reports and data solutions.
  • Ability to develop high quality reports based on efficient SQL queries based on requirements of business using SSRS/SSIS and other reporting/analytics tools.
  • Ability to optimize reports to maximize performance.
  • Knowledge of best practices in schema design and implementation.
  • Experience supporting and working with cross-functional teams in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong organizational skills and ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously.
